The Fragrance Foundation UK Awards Thursday 12th May 2022

The Fragrance foundation UK has awarded The Circle of Champions Award 2022 to Shelley Ann Smyth of Phoenix Beauty for her amazing contributions to the fragrance industry.


Linda Key Jackson, CEO of the Fragrance Foundation UK said: “Shelley Smyth is one of the most hard-working people I know. Her passion, dedication, kindness and support that she has shown to so many, whether starting out in their career or established in their careers, Shelley is always there with guidance and encouragement. Many of her team have been with her for years because of this. I feel very fortunate to call her not only a colleague but a friend.”


Shelley Ann Smyth is a true entrepreneur and role model to anyone looking to have a career in fragrance. An outstanding manager of brands and people, Shelley is an extremely well-respected individual whose goal is to deliver results and innovation for stand out activities.




Career Highlights include:

Shelley started her career at Clinique in 1979. In the 17 years she was with Clinique she progressed her career through the ranks including Beauty Consultant, Area Manager, Regional sales and Marketing Manager eventually to the position of National Sales Manager.


In 1996, Shelley became General Manager of Calvin Klein Cosmetics and progressed to VP International trade Marketing. Highlights during her time here include being responsible for various key launches and managing several iconic brands such as cKone, cKbe, Contradiction, Eternity, Obsession, and escape


In 2010, Shelley launched her own company, SAS & Company, with just herself and a Marketing Assistant and went on to employ 60 staff. SAS & Company had the distribution for some of the biggest Celebrity Fragrances including Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and One Direction, which was the biggest launch of 2013. SAS & Company was sold to Revlon in 2017.


Shelley is currently CEO of Phoenix Beauty Ltd, a company set up with her daughter and son-in-law, Amy Buckley and Nick Buckley. The company currently represent over 20 brands, including Elie Saab, Chopard Parfums, Goldfield & Banks Australia, Billie Eilish, Florence by Mills, BDK, Laboratorio Olfattivo, Carine Roitfeld, Banana Republic, Iceberg, and Obvious.


Alongside Phoenix Beauty Ltd, Shelley has also launched a first of it’s kind online fragrance concierge service, Parfum Muse. Annalise Fard, Director of Beauty at Harrods and Chairman of The Fragrance Foundation UK said, “ Shelley has not only been an excellent supporter of our foundation for over many years, alongside playing a significant role in so many iconic UK fragrance launches, she is also the epitome of career success in our industry and therefore a great ambassador for the industry.”
